Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:2-5 (TNIV)
If you were to go to work for a new company that told you they had a fantastic benefits package, wouldn't you want to know what all those benefits were? It would be crazy not to have access to medical care when you needed it, simply because you hadn't taken the time to read up on your benefits package! Or to get denied certain forms of care because you didn’t know what treatments your health care plan covers. It’s all too easy to find yourself at a disadvantage because you made decisions from an assumption. An assumption that could have been easily avoided if you had only taken the time to know what you were entitled to! What if it were all covered and you missed out?
God provides a benefits package for us, even though many Christians aren’t taking advantage of it. He has given us over 3000 promises in the Bible. Promises for peace, joy, protection, provision and even health. But many of us are unaware of those promises, and as a result haven’t tapped into any of these amazing benefits.
God has called us to be intentional in learning and grasping the promises He has for us. To find out where our foundations might be needing a little adjusting. It’s why He has given us a manual, the Bible. We need to search it and learn it; then we can access the benefits that God provides us through His promises.
